The rigid copper clad laminate in which the fabric and the core material are composed of different reinforcing materials is called a composite base copper clad laminate. This type of copper clad laminate is mainly the CEM series of copper clad laminates in the NEMA/ANSI standard. In the CEM series, CEM-1 and CEM-3 are the most common varieties. In the early stage of the development and launch of CEM series composite matrix copper clad laminates, there is also a copper clad laminate with epoxy glass fiber paper as the reinforcement material and epoxy resin as the main material, which is called CEM-4.
The difference between CEM-4 and CEM-3 is in two aspects: the two outer sides of the board, without the non-flame retardant of epoxy fiberglass cloth like CEM-3.
Kromě toho existují kompozitní substráty řady CRM plátované mědí. Jedná se o mědí plátovaný laminát s polyesterovou -tkaninou ze skleněných vláken jako tkaninou a polyesterovým-vláknovým papírem jako základním materiálem. Mezi nimi se mědí plátovaný laminát zpomalující hoření stává CRM-7 a nehořlavá deska -zpomaluje hoření se stává CRM-8. Současný aplikační trh laminátů s kompozitní základnou mědí plátovaných sérií CEM-4 a CRM je velmi malý. Proto se takzvaný kompozitní základní mědí plátovaný laminát týká hlavně dvou nejběžnějších mědí plátovaných laminátů, CEM-1 a CEM-3. Model desky CEM-1 ve standardu IPC-4101 je deska NO.10 a model ve standardu JIS je deska CPE1F. Model desky CEM-3 ve standardu IPC-4101 je deska NO.12 a model ve standardu JIS je deska CGE3F.
